Masters Final Round News & Notes

Augusta, GA (Sports Network) - Chad Campbell and Kenny Perry each had their chances on Sunday at the Masters, but could not seal the deal and collect their first major championship title.
Campbell, who was trying to become the second player in the last 19 years to come from outside the final pairing and win the Masters, closed with a three- under 69 to get in the clubhouse first at 12-under-par 276. However, he made bogey on the first hole of the playoff to drop out of contention for the title. “I hit a great drive,” said Campbell of the playoff hole. “I had a seven-iron with a little bit of an interesting lie and just hung it out to the right. I hit a great bunker shot and a bad putt.” For Campbell, it was his second tough-luck loss in a major. In 2003 at the PGA Championship, Shaun Micheel hit his approach to the 72nd hole within inches of the hole and tapped in for birdie and the win.
