MONTREAL — If Geoff Ogilvy continues to play the way he has this season he still could be the hottest player on the PGA Tour when he comes to Quebec for next month’s Telus World Skins Game.
The 31-year-old Australian, a two-time winner on the Tour in 2009 and leader in the FedExCup standings, will join Mike Weir, Fred Couples, Trevor Immelman and Ian Poulter for the five-man shootout at La Tempete Golf Club in Levis, near Quebec City, on June 22-23.
Ogilvy finished second to John Daly in the 2007 edition of the event played at The Raven Golf Club at Lora Bay, Ont., and will be returning to Quebec for the second time since the fall of that year when he was a member of the International team for the Presidents Cup at Royal Montreal.
“I love coming to Canada. I played in 2007 in the Telus skins and really had a good time. It’s a really cool format,” Ogilvy said during a conference call from TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., where he was preparing for this week’s The Players Championship.
