Tiger Woods hopes for an improvement on Friday after finishing on one-under-par after the opening round of The Players Championship.
Woods is continuing to recover from a knee injury, which kept him out of action for eight months, but says he is feeling no ill effects.
“I just need to keep working at it,” the world number one told Setanta Golf after his opening round in Florida. “The knee feels great.”
Woods was relatively pleased with his performance on a fast TPC Sawgrass course on Thursday, but was a little let down by his putting.
“I was in good positions, I just didn’t make the putts,” he admitted. “If I hit the ball like I did today for the rest of the week, I should be alright.
“Hopefully I’ll be better again tomorrow.
“The course is playing fast. The greens are slippery in some spots, but they’re not too bad. They’re receptive. But the fairways are definitely giving some speed, you have to be careful with some of the tee-shots.”
